In the third
match of Group B between Sri Lanka and the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Sri
Lanka showcased an exceptional display of batting prowess and top-notch
bowling, resulting in a resounding victory. Pathum Nissanka, Dimuth
Karunaratne, Kusal Mendis, Sadeera Samarawickrama, and Charith Asalanka led Sri
Lanka’s strong batting lineup as they amassed a formidable total of 355/6 in
their allotted 50 overs. In response, the UAE struggled to match the required
run rate and could only muster 180 runs, succumbing to Sri Lanka’s impressive
bowling attack.

Pathum Nissanka laid a solid foundation for
Sri Lanka with an inning of 57 runs off 76 deliveries. Dimuth Karunaratne, the
captain, exhibited his class and contributed a well-crafted 52 runs from just
54 balls. Kusal Mendis, the wicketkeeper-batsman, played a dynamic inning,
smashing 78 runs off 63 deliveries, while Sadeera Samarawickrama added to the
team’s total with a fluent knock of 73 runs from 64 balls. Charith Asalanka’s
explosive unbeaten 48 off 23 deliveries further consolidated Sri Lanka’s strong
position. Despite a brief hiccup, Sri Lanka’s batting depth was evident as they
amassed a commanding total.

Challenging Bowling Effort:

The UAE bowlers
faced a daunting task against Sri Lanka’s formidable batting lineup. Ali
Naseer, Rohan Mustafa, Aayan Afzal Khan, and Basil Hameed each claimed a
wicket, contributing to their team’s effort. However, Sri Lanka’s batsmen
dominated the proceedings, taking control of the match and piling on the runs.


UAE’s Struggle in the Chase:

Chasing the
mammoth target of 356 runs, the UAE’s batting lineup faced an uphill battle.
Despite valiant efforts from Muhammad Waseem, Vriitya Aravind, and Rameez
Shahzad, the team found it challenging to keep up with the required run rate.
The Sri Lankan bowlers maintained a tight grip on the game, restricting the UAE
batsmen. Ultimately, the UAE scored 180 runs before losing eight wickets,
falling short of the target.

Sri Lanka’s
bowlers were at their best, putting up an exceptional display to dismantle the
UAE’s batting lineup. Wanindu Hasaranga was the standout performer, claiming an
impressive six wickets in his spell. Maheesh Theekshana, Lahiru Kumara, and
Dhananjaya de Silva each contributed crucial wickets, limiting the UAE’s
scoring opportunities.


Sri Lanka
defeated the UAE by a convincing margin of 175 runs thanks to a strong batting
performance and a top-notch bowling effort. This comprehensive win highlights
Sri Lanka’s strengths as a well-rounded team and gives them a positive start in
